Vietnam Cooking, Culinary and Textile is the trip designed to show off the textile of Northern hill tribes and colorful markets while allow you to discover the best cuisine in Vietnam and explore Vietnamese culinary art. Joining Vietnam textile and culinary, a special culture tour in Vietnam will help you to understand the daily life of the local and find out why Vietnamese food becomes of the most famous cuisines in Asia.
Day 1: Hanoi Arrival (-/-/D)
Welcome to Vietnam, on arrival at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport, our tour guide will greet and transfer you by private car to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit to the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, one of the most interesting museums in Vietnam. In the evening, you will enjoy welcomed dinner at local restaurant with authentic Vietnamese cuisines. Stay overnight in Hanoi hotel.
Day 2: Hanoi – Mai Chau (B/-/-)
We leave Hanoi to Mai Chau which is located in green valley that is inhabited by several ethnic minorities, including Hmong and Thai peoples. After 3 hours driving in mountainous area, we will be arriving at the Thai village of Ban Lac where we will stay overnight with the locals. The whole afternoon, you will discover the village with tour guide. First, we stop to visit the head of community to go along the history of the Thai People, culture, traditions, festivals…. In the evening, enjoy a musical presentation by local dancers and singers. At the end, we try traditional “Ruou Can” (rice wine) from a long-curved reed. Stay overnight in Mai Chau.
Day 3: Mai Chau – Hanoi – Sapa (B/-/-)
In the morning, take a walk to the local market. Here we see some of very interesting foods like bamboo shoots, bee honey, then continue to visit the surrounding. In the afternoon, we leave Mai Chau for Hanoi. In the evening, transfer to Hanoi Train Station to embark on the overnight train to Sapa. Stay overnight on train.
Day 4: Sapa Day Tour (B/-/-)
Today, upon arrival at Lao Cai Train Station around 6:00 AM, we will drive up to Sapa which is located 1600m high above the sea level, enjoy breakfast at local restaurant and visit Sapa Market and the Black Hmong Village of Cat Cat. In the afternoon, By visiting the Zay Village of Ta Van, the Black Hmong Village of Lao Chai and The Red Dao Village of Ta Phin, we can view most intriguing work & collection of ancient designs of local weaver, enjoy bast fiber (smashing, bleaching…), visit indigo or hemp farms and study batik & tritik technique and Hmong and Dzao textiles. In the evening, free at leisure. Stay overnight in Sapa hotel.
Day 5: Sapa – Bac Ha – Hanoi (B/-/-)
Today, we drive from Sapa to Bac Ha, 100 Km away. Bac Ha is a small town that is famous for its colorful Sunday market. The Flower Hmong women wear checkered head scarves and brightly colored tops and skirts decorated with elaborate embroidery. The main goods on sale here are livestock such as buffaloes, pigs, chickens, and horses, local products like rice wine, household items, brightly dyed wool, hill tribe garments, and ethnic handicrafts such as jewelry, baskets, and textiles. After visiting the market, drive back to Lao Cai Tran Station for overnight train to Hanoi. On the way, visit the border gate between Vietnam and China. At 9:00 PM embark and stay overnight on train.
Day 6: Hanoi – Danang – Hoi An (B/-/-)
Upon arrival in Hanoi, transfer to Noi Bai Airport for a short flight to Danang, and then continue to Hoi An. Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, mainly because of its Chinese, Japanese and European influenced architecture. In the afternoon, relax on Cua Dai Beach or spend time to visit silk and handicraft villages along the Thu Bon River. The evening is on your own schedule. Stay overnight at hotel in Hoi An.
Day 7: Hoi An (B/-/D)
This morning, visit Hoi An Town with the Japanese Covered Bridge, Phung Hung House, Chinese Assembly Hall, Quan Ong Pagoda, visit Thanh Ha Pottery Village by boat. In the afternoon, enjoy cooking demonstration and market tour with local chef. The market tour will give you an insight not just into the scents and flavor of Vietnamese herbs and spices but also market culture – how to bargain and where to buy your goods. Our chef will talk you through today’s dishes then leading you through each dish, giving you plenty of opportunity to get involved and try your hand at reproducing the flavors for dinner. Dine on the dishes you have just prepared. We will also supply you with a recipe containing all the information you need to reproduce an authentic taste back home. Your evening is at leisure. Stay overnight in Hoi An hotel.
Day 8: Hoi An – Danang – Ho Chi Minh (B/-/D)
After breakfast at hotel, we transfer to the Danang International airport for a short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. In the afternoon, enjoy the oriental tour to the War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace, Chinatown, Ben Thanh Market. Enjoy warm dinner at the restaurant and then a free evening for your own discovery. Stay overnight at hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 9: Ho Chi Minh Departure (B/-/-)
Leisure to enjoy Ho Chi Minh City until the departure transfer to airport for your departure flight. End of the tour.
